Obituary of George Arthur Schmitt

George (Art) Schmitt, 79, of Pensacola, Florida passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at home with his loving and devoted wife, Monika Schmitt and some family members by his side. He was a loving, compassionate and generous husband. He worked as a Flight Engineer for 40 years for National Airlines, Pan Am and Kalitta Air and retired in 2013. He loved flying, the Marines, collecting antiques and books. He is survived by his wife, Monika Schmitt; 5 children, Karen & Ernie Grace, Carolyn Weaver, Leann Schmitt, Jim Schmitt and Tim Schmitt; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Brittany, Brandon, Aliza, Kaylee and Taylor. The family would like to give special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice for everything they did, a special close friend, Laura Bittmann for her kind and loving support, we couldn’t have done it without you. Martha Hanna for everything you did. Pastor Joseph Molchanoff for officiating the service and Larry Hanna for his tribute. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, visitation will be from 5:00-6:30pm, service at 6:30pm at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Florida 32504.
