Carol Boyle

Obituary of Carol Ann Boyle

Carol Ann Alfonsin Boyle, age 81, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Carol had lived in Pensacola, Florida for the past 23 years. She was originally from Brooklyn, New York, where she met her husband and sweetheart. She married George Boyle, Sr. on November 23, 1957 after he joined the Navy. Their marriage gave them three children and many adventures; New York to Idaho to Maine to Connecticut to Maryland to California to Hawaii to Mississippi; back to Hawaii, back to California to Virginia to New Hampshire to Mississippi and all states in between before finally settling in Florida. They say the toughest job in the Navy is being a sailor’s wife; there ought to be a medal for that. She was a life member of the United States Submarine Veterans Incorporated, whose purpose is "To perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives in the pursuit of their duties while serving their country". She was involved with Submarine Veterans Drum Base and Mobile Base. She organized a women’s auxiliary for the Submarine Veterans called Subvettes and raised organizational funds as the Women’s Auxiliary Store Keeper selling jewelry at their conventions. She donated clothes to and made plastic bag mats for the local homeless. She ensured local law enforcement, fire department personnel, EMT, retired, and active duty military were thanked for their service by giving them stars from retired flags with a note of appreciation. Decorating the Christmas tree and making sure that all who came to the house for Christmas enjoyed and joined in on all the festivities. Sometimes Dad would be gone for months at a time and we not knowing which ocean he was in, and Carol raised three children by herself, that was a task in itself. Realizing what it took to be a family as we transitioned from a military to a civilian family, this opened many doors and enabled us to grow. Enjoying each other’s company while camping, Dad always used to joke about how Mom would bring enough food to feed the Marines. We never went hungry, that’s for sure. She was preceded in death by her father, William Alfonisin; mother, Elizabeth Fettett Alfonsin; brother, William Alfonsin and sister, Joan Alfonsin McGroaty. She is survived by her husband, George Boyle, Sr.; daughter, Kelly Boyle; sons, George (Janice) Boyle, Jr. and Scott (Ann) Boyle and brother, Edward Alfonsin. Grandchildren, George Boyle, III, Darla (Doug) Boyle Mansfield, Kristin (Shane) Boyle Stork, Kaitlyn Boyle, Lisa Frable, Tara Nicholson, Jayce Walker and Christopher Boyle. Great-Grandchildren, Austin, Lilly, Kelsey, Seth, Landon, Kaiden, Aiden and Annaleigh. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Family-Funeral & Cremation, 7253 Plantation Road, Pensacola, Florida 32504. Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:15am with a service at Barrancas National Cemetery immediately following.
