Obituary of Grace Adams Golden

Grace Adams Golden, 86, of Pensacola, FL was welcomed into Heaven by her Savior on Mother’s Day, May 14, 2017. She was born on January 30, 1931 to Robert Grady Adams and Ruby Toole Adams in Campbellton, FL. She was a graduate of Graceville High School. She married Doyle C. Golden in 1948. They lived in Tallahassee, FL where they reared their four children. Grace, a talented musician, was a member of Southside Methodist Church and was the pianist and choir director for many years. She was a Christian, a devoted wife and mother, an excellent cook, and worked tirelessly to make family gatherings and holidays become treasured memories. After her husband, Doyle, passed away in 1987, she moved to Pensacola where she attended Brownsville Assembly of God. In 1994, she met and married Herbert Mercer of Lucedale, MS, where she lived until his passing in 2000, at which time she returned to Pensacola. Her children and other family members visited with her daily during her last years at her Carpenter’s Creek Assisted Living Facility. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a brother, John Price Adams, and two sisters, Sadie Mason and Ouida Farris. She is survived by her children Robert (Cindy) Golden of Milton, FL, Kathy (Miles) McLean of Pensacola, Frank Golden of Waynesboro, TN and Pensacola, and James Golden of Pensacola. She was a proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, Mac McLean, Kassie McLean, Jason McLean, Katherine Golden, Scott Golden, Christina (Tony) Andrus, and Carolyn (Daniel) Taylor, 11 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is remembered fondly as a loving, generous, compassionate lady and will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, Herb Mercer’s family, and numerous treasured friends, including many dear caretakers. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to attend a Time of Remembrance on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00PM at Family Funeral and Cremation at 7253 Plantation Road in Pensacola. On June 5th, a Time of Celebration of her life will be held in Campbellton, FL at 10:30.
