Obituary of Violet Lee Fox Remski
IN MEMORY
OF
VIOLET LEE FOX REMSKI
June 10, 1921 to April 25, 2017
Violet Lee Fox Remski passed from this life into the Presence of the Lord on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 after nearly 96 years on this earth. Violet is mother to two sons, Joe Remski, and, Paul Remski, three grandsons, Aaron, Isaac and Ben, and, two great grandsons, Keaton and James. Violet was born on June 10, 1921 to the late Henry Theodore and Nannie Lee Gilliam Fox in Crichton, Alabama. Violet had two brothers, and, four sisters all predeceasing her. Violet’s brothers were Carl Weaver and H.T. Fox, Jr.; and her sisters were Martha Fox Rowell (aka Sister), Clara Fox Wilder, Primrose Fox Conner, and Dorothy Fox Morrow DeRisi Palmer. Violet married the late Edmont Joseph Remski in the early 1950s and remained his wife until his homecoming in September, 1986.
Violet was passionate about her singing, and, was active in her church choir. She often performed solos in church, and, later toward the end of her life, would often greet visitors at the nursing home with choruses. Mom loved to cook and her meals included traditional American dishes as well as Polish meals. Gołąbki [go’wumpki], also known as “stuffed cabbage”, or, “pigs in a blanket” were favorites in her family. Mom Remski loved to provide a beautiful and ornate place setting at the dinner table with silver and fine china at the holidays, and, on special occasions. Mrs. Remski was passionate about the local church and her children were invited and brought to church on a weekly basis. Scripture reading and personal devotion to God, and His Son Jesus Christ were encouraged by word and deed. Violet was imperfect like all human beings and those areas where she “missed the mark” have been thoroughly cleansed by the Blood of the Living Christ. Not only was Violet a student of scripture, but also a student of teaching. Mrs. Remski pursued a Bachelor’s degree in her 40s at Adelphi University on Long Island, and, subsequently taught as a short and long term substitute at local high schools in Suffolk County on Long Island.
Violet will be cremated within the next week. For those of you who may have some reservations regarding cremation particularly in the case of a Christian, I want to refer you to the article written by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association staff:
"When a Christian dies is it all right cremate the body?" https://billygraham.org/answer/when-a-christian-dies-is-it-all-right-to-cremate-the-body/comment-page-6/
From this resource, and several others I have reviewed there is absolutely no scriptural stand for or against cremation. Ultimately, over time, our bodies all return to the dust from whence we came and Mom, you and I will be no different.
