Obituary of Jonathan W. Ard

Jonathan “Wayne” Ard, age 53, of Mobile, Alabama went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 03, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Florida. He passed away peacefully after complications from acute organ failure. He preceded in death by; Father Ruben Ard, Sr., Brother Reuben Ard, Jr. and sister Judy Ard. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Amanda Ard (Hallmark), daughter, Amanda “Nicole” Thompson, (Derrick), daughter, April Fleming (Jason), daughter, Ashley Ard (Brian Jenkins), six grandchildren, Nevin, Chance and Kahli Thompson, Damon Frederickson, Kaylee Fleming and Briley Jenkins. Mother, Ruby Annette Penton (Gerald). Siblings: Joyce Drake, Wanda Ard, Melinda Krochta and half siblings, Joseph, Julie, James and Jodie Ard. Wayne was born in Mobile, Alabama to the late Reuben Ard, Sr. and Ruby Annette Penton. Wayne met his wife Amanda “Mandy” (Hallmark) and married on May 07, 1983. They were blessed to have a strong and loving marriage and to fruition they were blessed with three daughters and six grandchildren. Wayne was a loving husband, great father and a sweet Papaw. He worked very hard to provide for his family. He was very involved and always made sure he had family time with his kids and grandkids. Wayne was well known throughout the Cantonment Community as the store manager at Central Auto Parts where he worked for 28 years. Wayne loved the outdoors, he enjoyed taking his family to trips to the mountains in Tennessee. He loved to grill out with his them and he enjoyed a good t-bone steak. Some of his hobbies were fishing, gardening, boat riding and four wheeling. He liked shooting pool in the shop that he and his brother Reuben built together. He also liked trying his luck at casinos. He was also a gun collector and enjoyed shooting them in the outdoors. He was a humorous man, a good prankster and jokester. His chuckling laugh was contagious and would bring a smile to everyone’s face. Wayne was a one of a kind man and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like just sitting down and enjoying the company of others. Talking to people and making them laugh by telling one of his jokes. Visitation will be held Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service immediately following at Family-Funeral & Cremation. Officiating service will be Pastor Darrel Black. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the family at Family-Funeral & Cremation.
