Obituary of Rickey Allen Madden
Rick Allen Madden, 63, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on February 23, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida.
His parents, Bob and Peggy (Daniels) Madden, welcomed Rick into the world on September 10, 1959. Rick experienced tremendous loss as a young child as both of his parents passed away by the age of 12. Following that, he moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL where he was loved and cherished during his life by his parents, Don and Julia Allen Madden Sr., and brothers, Don A. Madden Jr., John A. Madden, and Robert A. Madden. Throughout his life, Rick expressed his immense gratitude for the love and comfort he received from his family. Following his graduation from Choctawhatchee High School in 1977, Rick studied Hospitality Management at Florida State University and was a loyal Seminole fan throughout his life.
Over the course of his career within his family's hotel business, Rick held many different positions. In time, the company acquired and operated a portfolio of hotels throughout the United States, and Rick traveled and worked at many of them. It was while working at their Portland, ME hotel that he met Karen (Butler) Madden, his future wife, and mother of his only child. After marrying, they traveled and worked at multiple hotel locations, and finally settled back in Fort Walton Beach in 2000. In 2001, their son Robert Wayne Madden was born. From that day forward, anyone who spoke with Rick knew that Bobby was the center of his universe and would be for the rest of his life. In 2004, they relocated to the coast of Maine. Rick adored being a father and loved to take Bobby fishing as a child, coaching his baseball and soccer teams, and adored the simple things in life, like taking a father/son walk and chatting about random things. Rick's proudest moments came not from his own accomplishments, but those of his son. He said more times than one could ever recount how proud he was of his son. During the last three years, Rick traveled throughout California and Florida in construction sales.
Rick was predeceased by his parents Bob and Peggy Madden, and Don A. Madden Sr., his brother John A. Madden, his nephew Bowden Madden, his grandparents John Arthur and Nettie (his beloved Mima) Madden, and grandparents George C. and Verda Allen. Comfort is gained knowing Rick had a glorious reunion in heaven with those whom he previously grieved. Death is not the end of a relationship, only an interruption until we are reunited again. Rick is survived by his son, Bobby and Karen Madden, his mother Julia Allen Madden, his brothers Don A. Madden Jr. (Lisa), and Robert A. Madden (Elise), sixteen nieces and nephews, as well as, Robert and Gail Butler, Mark (predeceased) and Lori Butler, Arthur and Susan (Butler) Reno, Stephen and Gail Butler, half-sister Judy Weir and many friends across the United States, including his closest lifelong friends, David Simpson and Tom Glorioso.
Services will be held this summer and announced at a later date.
