Obituary of Gary Matthew Lancaster

Gary Matthew Lancaster, age 67, of Jay, Florida passed away peacefully in his sleep while in Hospice care on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Gary was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 6th, 1956 to his  parents, Gaylord R. Lancaster and Peggy Joy (Kimball) Lancaster.  He was raised with his brother Ryan Lancaster.  Gary's first marriage to Kimberly (Wuest)  Lancaster for over 30 years.  She passed away on November 12th, 2011 leaving behind a biological daughter, 2 adopted girls and 5 grandchildren.  Gary was a "Jack of all trades" as he worked in construction, electrician, sheriff, chef on oil rigs and ultimately truck driver when he met Judy.  Gary married Judy (Maucher) Lancaster on March 25, 2014.  Gary and Judy pursued a career as truck drivers, but when in 2018, on a run from Waco to Dallas, Texas, a rollover accident caused injuries to his leg and Judy's head, he lost the job and had to resort at any local pursuit as Judy continued to drive trucks as much as she could.  When Gary couldn't work, he was active in our local community joining the Republican Executive Committee, canvassing with Defend Florida, holding signs against medical tyranny and voicing his concerns about our freedoms.  His honest, loving and caring demeanor was evident to all that heard.  At the time, most didn't know that he was fighting courageously against cancer that was overcoming him.  On January 15, 2023, for the second time, Gary recommitted to Jesus and was born again at the New Beginning Pentecostal Church.

Gary will join in Heaven his parents, Gaylord R. Lancaster and Peggy Joy (Kimball) Lancaster and his first wife Kimberly (Wuest) Lancaster.  Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Judy (Maucher) Lancaster; adopted daughters, Stacey Sakurai and Rachel Dupuis; grandchildren, Brice Dupuis, Jani Dupuis, and Bradley Dupuis; adopted grandchildren, Katy Lancaster and Justin Lancaster, as well as a community of friends and family who loved him dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Gary Lancaster on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM at New Beginnings Pentecostal Church of Berrydale, 7580 Highway 4, Jay, FL, 32565. Casual attire and Horsd'oeuvre and drinks will be provided.
