Obituary of Steven Edward Bennett
Steve Bennett, of Navarre, FL, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023 after a brief illness.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy, his son Jeff (Kim), son Kevin (Shannon),
daughter Kimberley (Tommy) Williams, son Shawn (Christy), sister Candace Bennett Walker
(Will), and sister-in-laws Kathy and Dale, as well as his wonderful extended family of
grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed by the many friends he made
everywhere he went. Steve is predeceased by his parents Jack and Florence, and brothers
Jack and Alan.
Steve grew up in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, attending school in southern Ontario and
western New York. He moved to Maine and retired from the 101st ARW after 23 years of
distinguished USAF service. Steve and Judy moved to Navarre, FL where they spent many
hours of relaxation floating in their pool. Steve was an avid car, aircraft, motorcycle, and boat
enthusiast and skilled tradesman and builder. He loved animals and especially all the dogs he
bonded with throughout his lifetime. Steve was also a talented lifelong guitarist, playing on The
Rainvilles’ “I Got What I Wanted”, which hit #1 on the Canadian RPM charts in 1967. He could
always be found learning new music to play and sing; his voice, kindness, and fun-loving spirit
will be missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society. The
family is especially grateful to the many family, friends, and caregivers for their support. There
will be a private celebration of Steve’s life.
