Obituary of William Paul Moses
William "Bill" Paul Moses, 71, died peacefully Thursday, March 16, 2023. He was born in Oahu, Hawaii on October 22, 1951 to Dorsey and Theresa Moses.
He grew up in Pensacola camping, water skiing, and cast net fishing in Escambia Bay. He fished in most of the waters around Pensacola. Bill is a graduate of Woodham High School, class of 1969. In 1975 Bill graduated from University of West Florida with a BA degree in Communication Arts. In the early 70's he lived in the house which is now New Yorker Deli in Pensacola.
One of his early jobs was at the Pensacola News Journal. He moved to DC and then on to Denver, Colorado where he lived for 30 years. While in Denver he worked as an Account Executive for the Rocky Mountain News and as Marketing Director & Associate Producer for Broadcast One. He came back to his hometown, Pensacola, in 2011.
Bill was an avid reader and loved classical music which he listened to riding around in his red 2000 Honda Accord coup, another one of his loves. He still has that car! He inherited a green thumb from his dad and could grow anything. Give him a wilted twig and he could bring it back to life. He loved all flowers especially caladiums and amarillos. His yard in Denver and Pensacola always had beautiful flowering plants. For a while he volunteered at Denver Botanical Gardens and felt so much pride showing off and explaining the different types of plants and foliage to visitors.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey and Tess Moses. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Libbey of Pensacola, and brother John Moses (Elizabeth) of Falls Church, VA; his nieces and nephews Jimmy (Natalie) of Pensacola, Adam (Annie) of Falls Church, VA, Peter of New York City; Denise (Craig), Donna (Danny) and David (Diane) all of Delaware. He considered his great niece and nephews, Kendall, Davis and Max, as his grandchildren; he had many cousins and friends, and special lifelong friends Hazel Jeudevine and Gary Diamond who have been in his life since he was 3.
Bill prearranged all his final wishes. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral. A private family graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Family Funeral & Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
The family wishes to thank his caring doctors, Dr. Currie, and Dr. Sen, the exceptional staff of CCU at West Florida Hospital and Covenant Care for all their support
