Obituary of Bethany Marston Latham

Bethany Marston Latham, 79, of Pensacola Florida, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Bethany and her twin brother Bruce were born on August 5, 1943, to Perley Eugene Marston and Virginia Reynolds Marston at Salem Hospital in Massachusetts. She graduated from Swampscott High School in 1961, and later from John Robert Powers School in Boston. Bethany worked as an executive assistant in Boston, when she met and, on December 4, 1965, married Robert Alden Latham. They had two children and lived in Marblehead Massachusetts. Bethany worked full time in Boston and volunteered in Marblehead Public Schools.

In 1980, Bethany and her family moved to Pensacola Florida, where she worked at WEAR-TV. She returned to Massachusetts in 1996 with her husband and two custodial grandchildren to care for her elderly mother. While there, her husband Robert passed away in 1998 after a brief illness. Bethany worked at National Grand Bank in Marblehead until retiring and returning to her home in Pensacola in 2014. Injuries sustained during a car accident in 2015 led to complications leaving her disabled, and she was able to live at home with the help of her granddaughter Shannon, and dear friends Sue and John Gunderson.

Bethany is survived by her brother Bruce Marston and his wife Joyce Evans Marston; daughter Tara Latham and her partner Sasha Edwin-Ruth; daughter Terry Latham Holt, and her wife Allison Joy Holt; grandchildren Shannon Marrie Diane Latham and her fiancé Donnie Hires; Robert Alden Latham and his partner Baylee Fairchild; Rain Holt, Ryland Holt, and Sky Holt; great grandchildren Luke Latham and Logan Latham and their mother Grace Davis; as well as beloved nephews and nieces who live all over the country.

Bethany loved living on the coast, from the rocky shores of Massachusetts’ North Shore to the white-sand beaches of Perdido on Florida’s Gulf Coast. She found solace in gardening and tending her household plants. She was beloved by family and friends, and will be remembered as a generous, feisty, outspoken, caring woman. In her last weeks, Bethany chose heaven for forgiveness for her sins and was saved.

A celebration of life will take place in Pensacola at the Governor’s Pavilion at Big Lagoon State Park on May 18, 3 - 5pm, organized by Terry Holt. Cremation is under the direction of Family Funeral & Cremation in Pensacola, Florida.

There will be a memorial service and interment in Swampscott Cemetery in Massachusetts on June 7th at noon. The memorial service is under the direction of Solimine Funeral Home in Lynn, Massachusetts. (https://www.nadwornyfuneralhome.com/)
