Obituary of George Harold Stauffer
George Harold Stauffer, born on May 17, 1970, unexpectedly passed away on April 6, 2023, to be with the Lord. A native of Memphis, TN, George retired from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department after serving his community for many years. He was a man of great character and passion for helping others, often doing so without seeking recognition. After his retirement, he moved to Summerdale, Alabama, where he discovered a new love for bay and deep-sea fishing, which replaced his passion for hunting.
George was deeply loved by his family, including his beloved wife, Kristi Stauffer, his daughter, Karsen Driskell (Cody Driskell), and his beloved granddaughter, Daisy Jo Driskell. He also leaves behind his daughter, Kamron Stauffer (Logan Eason), and his cherished granddog, Millie Mae. George is also survived by his sister, Sarah Smith (Jeff Smith), and his nieces, Bella Smith and Chandler Anglin(Tom).
George, who will be remembered not only for his many accomplishments but also for the lasting impact he had on those fortunate enough to have known him. Among his many blessings were the close friendships he forged throughout his life, which he held dear and treated with the same love and care as his own family. George's legacy lives on through the memories and relationships he created with those who were privileged to be a part of his life.
George was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was known for his love of hunting, fishing, and his passion for helping others. George's legacy of helping others continued even in death through organ donation, where he was able to save countless lives.
George's family has chosen to honor his memory by celebrating his life the "George Stauffer way" at a later date, rather than having a traditional funeral or service. We, the family, are deeply grateful for all of the love and support during this difficult time. We will miss George dearly but will always cherish the memories we have with him.
Below is the tribute that Kamron Stauffer, George's daughter, wrote and read to him before he gave one last gift.
George Harold Stauffer was a remarkable individual who devoted his life to serving others and selflessly putting their needs before his own. His compassionate nature and generous spirit endeared him to all who crossed his path, and his impact was immeasurable. He had an innate ability to connect with people, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts and minds. Through his tireless efforts, he has left an enduring legacy that will continue to touch the lives of many. I pray that the essence of my beloved father's character will inspire others to carry on his legacy of kindness and generosity, perpetuating his remarkable influence for generations to come.
