Obituary of William Joseph Gallagher Jr
William J. Gallagher Jr, 66, of Milton, FL, passed away on May 5, 2023.
William was born in Flemington, NJ, the son of the late Sylvia C. Gallagher and the late William J. Gallagher.
William (Bill) graduated from Union Endicott High School, Endicott, NY, in 1975, he then joined the United States Navy in 1978. Bill retired from the United States Navy as a 1st Class Air Traffic Controller in September 2003. In 2007, Bill was hired at the Santa Rosa County Public Works as a Warehouse Manager for the county. He was awarded Employee of the Quarter for Santa Rosa County Public Works. Bill was a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and always willing to help out others. He was the first to sign up for the Santa Rosa Day of Service. He served diligently with his coworkers on projects to better the community. He retired from Santa Rosa County in 2021.
William is survived by his wife of 8 years, Brenda G. Gallagher; daughter and son-in-law, Heather D. and Carl B. Benson, granddaughter, Kaitlyn G., Saint Joseph, MO; son and daughter-in-law, William J. III and Ashley E. Gallagher, granddaughters, Truleigh A. and Ardhel S., Marietta, OH; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher M. Lantz and Kelsey N. Cochran, Smyrna, GA; brother, James C. Gallagher, Holly Ridge, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Michael F. and Sheryl A. Gallagher, Plano, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Colleen M. and David W. Duncan, Chesapeake, VA; 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 3 great nephews and 1 great niece; Step daughter and son-in-law Brandy and Terrance Friend and their children Autumn, Camden, and Cali, Pace, FL; step son Timothy Rutherford and his children Dalton, Makenzie, Nikole, Laken, and Sawyer, Milton, FL.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
