Carl Carlson Jr

Obituary of Carl Carlson Jr

Carl Carlson Jr, 90, passed away May 10, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born January
15, 1933 in Savannah, Georgia to Carl Sr and Marion Frances Carlson and moved to Pensacola
shortly after his birth where he was raised along with one sister.

After graduating high school, Carl served his country in the U.S. Army, where he earned the
Army of Occupation Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Upon returning home, he began a career at Monsanto and started raising a family. He retired
from Monsanto in 1988.

Carl was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found gardening, fishing, or camping.
However, his greatest passion was sailing. After his retirement, most days were spent on or
sailing his boat, “Dream Weaver”. He made many sailing trips with friends throughout the
Panhandle and as far as Key West. Sunday afternoons were reserved for him and his daughter to
share their love of sailing with anyone who wanted to join them.

Carl was quick-witted, shy, and quiet but would also lend you the shirt off his back. He and
Brenda regularly volunteered for Covenant Hospice, where he especially loved dressing up for
the patients as Santa for Christmas. After Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the southeast,
Carl, and a group of men from church spent a week in Biloxi, MS assisting victims of the
disaster.

Carl cherished his dogs. In his eyes they could do no wrong and they often accompanied him on
his outdoor adventures.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Carlson Sr, and Marion M. Carlson; mother of his
child and friend, Ellen Bischof Carlson.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Brenda Carlson; daughter, Annamarie
Carlson; sister, Norma Febro; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lane; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins,
and many friends.

Carl was the definition of a kind man; he touched so many lives in his time here on earth and will
be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A private service will be held by the family in reverence of Carl’s wishes. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
