Obituary of Dale Edward Gilbert

Dale Edward Gilbert,97, of Pensacola, FL passed away May 15,2023 at his home. He was born September
30 1925 to William Gilbert and Ruth Liebengood in Green Springs, Ohio, where he was raised along with
5 siblings.
Shortly after his 18 th birthday; Dale joined the U.S. Navy in the height of World War II. While in the Navy
he was awarded an American Theater Medal and a Victory Medal. Upon returning home, Dale began a
career with Whirlpool Corporation and eventually achieved his dream of owning his own restaurant.
Throughout his life Dale had many achievements; he attended the School of Cosmetology in Fremont,
Ohio, receiving his manicurist certification and worked as a Salon Manicurist after his retirement.
He was also an artist, and a carpenter, as well as a private pilot, who flew numerous types of aircraft
including his own antique 1938 Aeronca Chief. Dale also enjoyed small sailing vessels, and power boats.
He also held a lifelong membership with the VFW, memberships with Goldwing Road Riders Association,
Antique Aircraft Association, and Tearjerkers Teardrop Trailer Association.
However, his greatest accomplishment was the family he raised. His children and grandchildren have
many fond memories of motorcycle camping trips, and vacation to Niagara Falls, Canada; flights to
Breakfast Flyins and over night boating trips to Lake Erie Islands.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth Gilbert; wife, Helen Marie Gilbert; brothers,
John Gilbert, and Clarence Gilbert; sisters, Evelyn Gilbert Robinson, Laura Gilbert Stout, and Mary Lou
Gilbert Vickery; grandson, Michael Eugene Gilbert.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Eugene Gilbert (Mary Evelyn), and Terry Lee Gilbert; grandchildren,
Lori Gilbert Fisher, Christopher Gilbert, Dakota Gilbert, as well as numerous great and great-great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Barrancas national Cemetery on Tuesday June 13, 2023 at 10:30 am. A
procession to the cemetery will form at Olive Baptist Church (Warrington Campus) at 10:00 am CST.
