Obituary of Claude Darrell Gossett

Claude Darrell Gossett was born January 22, 1947 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Troy and Bea Gossett. He was raised in College Station, Texas graduating from Consolidated High School in 1965. He was active in sports, especially baseball and football.

He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1969 after doing a tour in Vietnam. He was a proud Marine and always said, “Once a Marine – always a Marine!”

He moved to Dallas, Texas and entered the Data Processing field, working for Republic Bank, the Southland Corporation and MasTec Technologies. He completed his B.A. in Business at University of Texas at Dallas in 1980. Shortly after he began his own business in the data processing field. He was the CEO of his company, Trans Data which later became Lanvera, LTD after selling the company. He remained employed with Lanvera until his retirement in 2013.

In 1994, he met the love of his life, Harriet Deane Gossett. They made a life together raising her two girls as his own. After retirement they moved to Gulf Breeze, Florida where he became active in the Elks Lodge of Pensacola Beach #497. He served as an officer there until recently. He was also active in his church, St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Gulf Breeze, singing in the choir and helping whenever he was needed.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet of Gulf Breeze, Florida; daughters Natalie Malnor (Dan) of Dripping Springs, Texas; Nikki Payne (Josh) of Pensacola, Florida; and Kathleen Cantrell (Bryan) of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren Hank and Wyatt Malnor, Carter and Gunnar Payne, and David and Sebastian Cantrell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his CHS classmates that loved and adored him.

A service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, Gulf Breeze.Florida with Interment immediately following at the church.
