Obituary of Thelma Amona Reeves
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our devoted, loving mother and center to the entire family, Thelma Amona Reeves on May 30, 2023.
Thelma passed at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL after complications from a stroke which she bravely fought for three years.
Thelma was born in Columbus, OH on March 29, 1929 to Donald and Gertrude Johnson.
Thelma married her lifelong love since childhood, Robert Willard Reeves on November 5, 1949 in Columbus, OH.
Thelma had many occupations over her life. She worked as a Soda Jerk at a drug store in Reynoldsburg, OH, and as a store associate at a number of department stores in south Florida. Thelma's longest occupation was that as a Postal Clerk at the Fort Lauderdale, FL Main Branch where she worked for 37 years from 1972 until her retirement in 2009.
Thelma is predeceased by her loving husband Robert, sisters Rhea, Ester, brother Eugene, son Todd and daughter Holly.
Thelma is survived by two sons, Kip and Kalon, grandchildren Robert, Derek, Taylor and Darby and a number of great grandchildren.
Thelma was a loving mother who enjoyed family gatherings more than anything. Thanksgivings and Christmases are the source of many wonderful memories thanks mostly to Thelma's efforts. She labored to make any family event as special as it could be for everyone. Thelma loved family so much that she sacrificed so much of herself, in her compassion and hard work, to make the others’ lives better.
Thelma loved crossword sewing, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She loved sharing a jigsaw puzzle with another family member. Se also loved to travel and spent most of the latter part of her life and retirement making road-trips, exploring places of which she learned and found interesting.
Our mother and patriarch will be sorely missed, but she has gone home to be with her loving husband, family and the Lord.
