John Wolfe

Obituary of John Roger Wolfe

With a courageous heart and an amazing attitude, John R. Wolfe, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, finally lost his battle with cancer.  With his wife and loving family surrounding him at his bedside, John peacefully left this earth to be with Our Heavenly Father on June 3, 2023.

He was born August 27, 1945 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Dale and Ruby Backus Wolfe.  He was a native of Ritchie County, West Virginia and a graduate of Harrisville High School.  He enlisted in the US Air Force and did a tour of duty in Vietnam and served at military bases in Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Florida and Spain.  He retired from the military after serving 20 years and 10 months.  He then worked another 20 years at Keltec, and also had worked at the Elks Club.  He was a member of the VFW and the community of Christ Church.  As a youth he had attended the Harmony Branch at Indian Creek, Harrisville, West Virgina.  He was a fan of Nascar and was especially proud of his 1972 Chevy Nova that he had restored.  He and his wife had been married 57 years.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Wolfe; three sons, John Roger, Jr. (Eleana), Adrian (Annette), and Scott Wolfe; brother, Charles "Jughead" (Mary Ann) Wolfe.  Also surviving are four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his grandparents, John and True Wolfe and John and Hattie Backus; his half-brother, Dale L. Seese; and one granddaughter.
