Obituary of James Bernard LaPine

James "Jim"  Bernard LaPine, 71, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida  was called home on 14 June, 2023 with his wife Sharon Leah LaPine at his side.

He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on 6 February, 1952 to James and Nancy LaPine.  Jim was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Medic in the 96th Medical Group, on Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  Among numerous other medals and awards, Jim received the Humanitarian Service Medal for his work at the Vietnamese Refugee Center at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

Jim met the love of his life in 1976, and married her in 1981.  He always thought of their life together as the adventure of a lifetime.

Jim was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  He was the president of the Legion of Mary, he also worked in the hospitality ministry.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sharon Leah LaPine; brother, Paul (wife, Linda) LaPine of California; sister, Lindsay Hatem of Florida; sister-in-law, Judith Ann "J'Ann" Whitley; brother-in-law, John (wife, Michelle) Henderson and several nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Nancy LaPine; sister, Dawn Norris and brother-in-law, Richie Norris.

 

There will be a Funeral Mass for Jim at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach, FL on Saturday, 1 July, 2023 at 10:00 AM, with a celebration of life to immediately follow, in the event room at G.I. JADE TIKI BAR & BISTRO, on the Sound side of Highway 98 in Fort Walton Beach.  Jim will be interned at Barrancas National Cemetery, with military honors, in the presence of family and clergy.
