Obituary of Randall Allen Wells

Lifelong sailor and veteran Randall (Randy) Allen Wells passed away in his home on July 2, 2023 surrounded by his wife, daughter, and granddaughters.  Randy was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his wife Peggy (Margaret), his daughter Kimberly (Matthew), and granddaughters Avery and Emmersen, Madison, Kendall, and Olivia and Peggy’s children, Heather and Gretchen.  Originally from northeast Ohio, Randy grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Kenmore High School.  He served faithfully in the United States Coast Guard from 1969-75. Randy had a passion for service and helping others and returned to northeast Ohio and worked for Roadway Trucking, eventually working for Federal Express Custom Critical as a computer programmer for over 30 years, retiring in 2006.  He was active in his community as a member of the Freemasons and Shriners International.  He met Peggy in 2008 and the two were married on August 5, 2010.  With a love of sailing and being on the water, he was an active member and volunteer at the Atwood Lake Yacht Club (Sherrodsville, Ohio), serving as the club’s Commodore in 2016.  Randy had a quick wit, gentle heart, and wonderful sense of humor.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, working on crossword puzzles, sharing stories, and was an avid reader.  He loved sailing, going to the beach, and watching his grandchildren swim in the ocean.  He would often help his wife with her love of puzzles, perusing estate sales, and walking the aisles of antiques stores.  Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Wells and Irene Boissett, and his brothers Andy Wells and Brian Boissett.  The family will have a private celebration of life.  Donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project: 855-448-3997 https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
