Obituary of Gary Dale Paullin

Gary Dale Paullin, 74, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Thursday evening, July 13, 2023.

Gary was born to Dale Paullin and Phyllis Paullin (Kissell) on Thursday, June 2, 1949, in Ashland, Ohio. He was the oldest of 4 brothers; Gary, Lane, Craig, and Phil.

A talented local baseball player with a love for the game, he graduated from Ashland High School in 1967. He was the star pitcher for Ashland University, where he graduated in 1971. 

Upon enlisting in the United States Navy in 1973, Gary and his family relocated to Pensacola, Florida, where he resided the rest of his life. He was the proud father of three loving children: Nathan Paullin of Pensacola, Kristin Malouf (Patrick) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Tony Paullin (Erica) of Melbourne, Florida.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother Lane. Gary is survived by his brothers Craig (Laurie) and Phil (Kay), his children Nathan, Kristin, and Tony, as well as their mother, Jill Glencoe Kerr (Charlie), also from Ashland. Gary was a proud grandfather to 7 adored grandchildren, Jacob (22), Lauren (19), Cash (15), Avery (13), Pierce (6), Ava (13), and Mia (11). Gary is also survived by many special and loved nieces and nephews and their families.

Gary was a hard-working man who held many responsibilities over his careers, including teaching middle and high school science and managing an oil services equipment company for the oil fields. For the last 30+ years, he was a business owner and well known to all as the “Repo Man” until his retirement in 2021. Gary was full of humor and thrived as a father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and friend. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and cooking. 

He loved family. 

He loved friends. 

He loved life. 

But most of all…he loved.

A celebration of life will be held in Gary's honor on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Hyle Funeral Home, 227 Broad St Ashland, OH 44805, from 11:00 am - 1:00pm
