Obituary of Ronald Salvatore Cabassa

Ronald S. Cabassa passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 8th.  He was predeceased by his parents, Salvador and Carmen Cabassa.  He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Rosanne and two amazing sons, Sal and Marc, along with their beautiful families. Christy, Jake and Kate and Rebecca, Olivia and John. They are his proudest achievements.  

Ron graduated from Lincoln School of Chiropractic but chose a career in pharmaceutical sales which he pursued for 30 years while winning many accolades.  The family moved from Miami to Virginia and finally to Gulf Breeze in 1973.  A man of many talents, he started and guided Crown Cabinetry in his retirement.  His love of boats and fishing led him to start the Pensacola

King Mack-Cobia Tournament, The Gulf Coast Masters Invitational Billfish Tournament and the

Optimist fishing rodeo, two of which are still in existence today.  Ron and attorney Gerald Brown started the Grant-A-Wish Foundation which was modeled after and eventually blended into the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  “Grandpa" loved nothing more than cooking out for his family so they could come together to visit and listen to his stories.  His family was everything to him and he made sure he let them all know how much they were loved and how proud he was of them.  He also had many friends that were like family and almost no one escaped without a nickname, including the grand kids.   

Ron was generous to a fault, gracious, stubborn, funny and loyal.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  As he would often say raising a glass “Here’s to you….May he find his “Happy Hours” and peace in Heaven.  We Love you Grandpa!

There will be a private mass for the family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Ronald S. Cabassa, to the Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida 1020 N.
