Obituary of Dawn Lynne Wood

We are gathered here today to celebrate the exceptional life and vibrant spirit of Dawn Lynne Wood, who brought joy to all who knew her. Dawn was born on September 21, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to Richard and Shirley Wood.

From the moment she entered this world, Dawn's infectious laughter and magnetic personality filled every room she walked into. She cherished her role as a grandmother to her three wonderful grandchildren, Kaidah, Kash, and Kyser, and she was a proud mother to her beloved son, Eric. 

Dawn’s impeccable sense of humor kept everyone laughing, and her heart was always filled with love. Dawn was born and raised in Livonia, Michigan, but will leave her heart in Alabama…her home for the last 32 years. She loved sunsets, hearts, and doing craft projects and baking Christmas cookies with her grandkids. 

From her infectious smile to her quick wit, Dawn had a way of making everyone feel special and important. Good or bad, you always knew where you stood with Dawn!

As we bid farewell to Dawn, let us remember the light she brought into our lives. Her laughter will echo in our hearts forever, and her spirit will continue to guide us through the darkest of times. So let us celebrate the remarkable life of Dawn Wood with smiles on our faces, knowing that she would want us to live every day to the fullest, just as she did. May her memory be a blessing, and may her soul find eternal peace.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Shirley Wood, and her grandparents, Richard and Ruth Wood. She is survived by her son, Eric Garris; Daughter-in-law Kali Nelson; grandchildren, Kaidah, Kash, and Kyser Garris; siblings, Jeff (Janet) Wood, Scott (Jill) Wood, and Colleen (Shane) Keough; beloved Aunt Dolly Wood; Best Friend Pauline Tinskey Lang; Step-mother Joyce Wood; aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and so many friends that were like family.
