Obituary of Frances Alvarez

Frances Alvarez, age 91, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida went to her LORD on August 14, 2023.  Fran was born in Schenectady, NY on August 10, 1932 to Jennie R. DeCelli and Baldomero Alvarez.

Frances entered the Order of Venerini Sisters through a Papal Dispensation at the age of 16.  Fran's teaching was influenced through studies about Montessori Learning Techniques in Italy.  She became Director of the Montessori Family Learning Center, Fort Walton Beach, Florida in 1984 and retired in 2002.

Fran married Robert (Bob) James Shea, June 14, 1986.  Fran and Bob created a loving atmosphere at the Montessori Learning Center, and with Family and Friends.

Frances is survived by her Step-son, Ken Shea; step-daughter, Sandra Shea; step-grandsons, David Shea and Duncan Shea; great-step-grandchildren, Leyi Shea, Starlit Shea, and Aurelius (Ari) Shea; God-son, Austin Easterly; God-daughter, Andrea Oberhelman; and dear friend Susan Easterly.

Fran is preceded in death by her Loving husband, Bob Shea; step-son, Doug Shea; mother, Jennie; father, Baldomero; and siblings, Frank, Anne Marie, Theresa, and Jenet.

Friends are invited to Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Fort Walton Beach, Florida on October 12, 2023 at 10:00AM for a Funeral Mass with Burial and service at Beal Memorial Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
