Obituary of Edward J Smith

Edward J. Smith, age 97, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida  passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

When Edward J. Smith first came to FWB in the 50's, he was employed by Philco at Eglin AFB.  Philco was responsible for maintaining micro-wave systems along the coast.  When Philco's Eglin contract expired and the contract removed to Norway, Ed decided to stay right where he was and establish a tv-appliance business....S & E TV.

He and wife Jean operated the business several years, until a large Pensacola company "Lewis Bear Distribution Company" offered Ed a job with a southeast sales territory.

By the 70's, 80's and 90's the Smith's had retired and were now working hard to promote Bonsai: conferences, workshops, clubs and international organizations.

Ed became Executive Director of BCI and Jean, editor of the Bonsai Clubs International Magazine.
