Obituary of William Curtis Keating
William Curtis Keating, 63, passed away at his home in Milton, FL on August 23, 2023.
Known by family and friends as Curtis, he was born on October 21, 1959 in Monmouth, Illinois to Lois and William “Bill” Keating. Curtis was a proud member of the Air Force for nearly 23 years until 2009. He then became a federal civilian employee at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, Florida until his full retirement.
Curtis graduated from Alexis High School in 1978. While in high school, he ran track, played football and competed in Judo while also working for local farmers. Upon his graduation, he worked at the hardware store in Alexis prior to enlisting into the United States Air Force in 1986. Curtis was a Firefighter for the majority of his military career, being stationed at bases in Okinawa, Japan; North Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Michigan, and the panhandle of Florida. He was a career firefighter until hearing loss forced a career field change where he finished out his military service in the Budget and Finance office.
Curtis become a father in 1988 when his son Daniel was born and later welcomed a daughter, Andrea, in 1989. His children accompanied him on his military transfers and were able to enjoy many parts of the world due to his career.
Curtis’s hobbies included fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed home repair projects. He would always make himself available if someone needed a truck and helping hand.
Curtis Keating is survived by his son Daniel (Kris) Keating, and his grandchildren, Austin, Aiden, Faith and Amelia of Cantonment, Florida; daughter Andrea Keating, and grandson Ronin of Covington Louisiana. Beloved surviving family includes sisters Loretta Keating and Cris (Michael) Hunt, niece Kim (Matt) McNeil, nephew Kraig Hunt, great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.
