Obituary of Angela Delaine Wheeler
Angela Delaine Wheeler, 54, of Pensacola, FL, passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 17, 2023, after a courageous 16 month battle with cancer.
She was born in Atlanta, GA in 1968 to Shelby Hayes and Sidney Wheeler. She attended Morrow High School and made lasting friendships, such as Alex Manning (Lisa). She excelled in sports in high school and continued to stay active in sports throughout her life.
Angela met the love of her life, Alicia, in 2015 in Woodstock, GA. Angela has always loved the water and made their second date a day out on the lake riding their jet skis and having a picnic. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in Marietta, GA in December of 2016. In the summer of 2017, they moved to Pensacola, FL to continue their new life together. There, they made several new friendships.
Angela was a wonderful cook. She spent many years in the restaurant industry as a chef, general manager and more. Everyone who knew Angela, knew how much she loved dancing, jet skiing on Lake Lanier, fishing, hiking and biking, going to the beach and traveling with Alicia in their travel trailer to enjoy different campsites.
Angela will always be remembered for her infectious grin and welcoming personality, and the way that she always took time to speak to everyone. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, sister, aunt, or friend, and will miss her every day. Her smile, her love of life and her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
She was wholeheartedly welcomed into her wife's family by her mother-in-law, Bunny (Jimmy), and father-in-law, Jack (Kecia). She fit in perfectly with her second family. They enjoyed beach vacations and many special times together. Alicia’s Uncle Van (Skip) and her Aunt Beth and Anne also were a special part of her life. She loved her mother-in-law and often called her “Bunzi”.
Angela was preceded in death by her mother, Shelby Hayes and her father, Sidney Wheeler, and is survived by wife, Alicia Munroe, sisters: Patricia Weathersbee (Kenneth) of Bath, SC; Marie Wheeler of Kennesaw, GA; Wanda Jo Kidd (Daryl) of Forest Park, GA; and sister-in-law, Grayson Touchton (Duke) of Havana, FL, and brothers: Sidney Lanier “Billy” Wheeler (Cindy) of McDonough, GA; Stanley Wheeler of Forest Park, GA; Michael Wheeler of Anderson, SC and Jerry Wheeler (Carolyn) of Nicholson, GA. She is also survived by two nieces, several nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A private graveside service for family and close friends only will be held on September 30, 2023. The Celebration of Life for all friends is on September 30, 2023 in Atlanta, GA. Details will be provided at a later date.
