Obituary of Curtis Lynn Burnham

Curtis Lynn Burnham, age 55, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was born on November 3, 1968 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida to David L. Burnham, Sr., and Maxine Lolley Burnham Starnes.

Curtis was a resident of Navarre, Florida, but grew up in DeFuniak Springs and was a Walton High School graduate. He was a devoted husband and father, and Baptist by faith. Curtis spent over 20 years in the construction industry specializing in stucco work. He attended Okaloosa Technical College where he received his certification for HVAC Technician then later worked in maintenance & HVAC for Brooks and Shorey Resorts of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Curtis was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, kayaking, ATV’s and much more. But of these, his true passion was fishing. He spent much of his free time fishing in the bays and bayous along the panhandle and participated in fishing tournaments from time to time. He also enjoyed music, even played drums for a local band in Navarre for a short period. He always had a witty sense of humor, loved to make people laugh with his innocent theatrical jokes. Most of all, he enjoyed life and the people in his life. Curtis will be greatly missed by his family, close friends, and co-workers.

Curtis was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Lolley Starnes; stepmother, Wynona Kittrell Burnham.  He is survived by his wife, Sonya Starnes Burnham of Navarre, Florida; two daughters, Erika Carter and Raelynn Burnham; son, John-David Carter;  father, David L. Burnham, Sr. of Freeport, Florida;  siblings, David Burnham, Jr., Michelle Doggett (Faron), Jimmy Burnham; mother-in-law, Sherry L. Starnes; sister-in-laws's, Susan R. Whitfield, Delia J. Herring (Michael); step-siblings, Beverly Otero and Ron Farris; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 6:00pm – 8:00 pm at Family-Funeral and Cremation.
