Obituary of Barbara Ann Simpson

Barbara Ann Simpson, 87, of Pensacola, Florida, entered into the presence of her Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Born in Long Branch, West Virginia on July 30, 1936, Ann was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Etta Mayo (Wyatt) Hale. She graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. After graduation she moved to Pensacola in 1957, to teach school at Pensacola Christian School, where the taught for five years. She also worked for the state of Florida Division of Children & Family, from which she retired in 1994. Ann was also a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pensacola.

On December 16, 1960, she married the love of her life and best friend, Jerry Melvin Simpson Sr., who survives. Together they loved to travel and had opportunities to travel abroad to assist missionaries through CLAIM (Christian Laymen Assisting International Missionaries), a ministry of BIMI (Baptist International Missions, Inc.).

In addition to her husband, Ann is survived by her daughter, Charletta Thompson (David); son, Jerry Melvin (Chip) Simpson Jr. (Dennis); grandchildren, Paul Thompson (Sarah), Rebecca Noa (Christopher), Rachel Shingler (Daniel), Anna Knowlden (Curtis), Sarah, Jonathan, Isaac, Bethany, Naomi, and Abigail Thompson; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church of Pensacola, with Pastor Jeff Bailie and Dr. Clayton Shumpert officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 until the time of service on Wednesday.
