Obituary of Jimmy Wayne Wrye

Jimmy Wayne Wrye, Age 80, of Crestview, FL., passed on from this life on December 22, 2023.

Jimmy, also known as Jim, was born on November 22, 1943, in Phenix City, AL., to Renzo Fortune and Mary Davis. He was a dedicated serviceman, and proudly served in the US military from 1960 to 1992.

Jim left behind a loving wife, Irene Wrye; son, Jan Wayne Wrye; daughter, Irena Owens; grandsons, Kyle Wrye, Robert Owens, and Joshua Owens. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Janina Marie Wrye, and his parents, Renzo Fortune and Mary Davis.

A military honors committal service will be held for Jim at Barrancas National Cemetery on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:30pm. Those who would like to attend are requested to gather at Olive Baptist Church, Warrington campus, located at 103 Winthrop Ave., Pensacola, by 2pm. The procession will leave the church promptly at 2:15pm and will be escorted to the committal service location.

Jim will be remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated serviceman, and a friend to all.  His legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
