Obituary of Stephen Mitchell Chicola
Stephen Chicola, age 64, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, peacefully departed this world, with his wife, Alishia and his sons, Stephen "Pally" and Jacob "Chippy" by his side on January 2, 2024. He was born on March 28, 1959, in the serene town of Olean, New York. Stephen led a life of dignity, embracing the values of family, faith, and hard work. Steve never met a stranger and knew how to enjoy life. He loved to make others laugh and was well known for his often outlandish and hilarious stories about his life.
Stephen was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Alishia Chicola, and a loving father to his children, Julie Shields, Stephen Chicola II, Jacob, and Jesse. His heart overflowed with joy as he watched his six grandchildren, Wyatt, Murphy, Trey, Jackson, Kinsey Rose, and Jett, grow and flourish under his gentle guidance. His love for his son-in-law, David Shields, was often spoken about. He felt blessed to know that his beloved daughter, Julie was loved and happy. His love of his daughter-in-law, Tara Chicola, was also spoken about often. He adored her and felt so blessed knowing his grandchildren would be raised to not only remember him, but be raised in the faith.

Steve leaves behind his mother and father, Steve and Karen Johnson, and his brother Jeff Chicola, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. His love of each and every one of them was so strong.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved brother, David Chicola and his much-loved grandparents, Ed and Rose Kinsey.

His garden produced so much food that it was shared with neighbors and friends. Stephen also possessed a talent for building furniture, crafting pieces that were not only functional but also infused with a rugged elegance.
A celebration of Stephen's life will be held on March 28, 2024, at 4:30 PM, at San Marco Preservation Hall, located at 1652 Atlantic Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
