Heather Angel

Obituary of Heather Rae Angel

With a heavy hearts we announce the passing of Heather Rae (Gilliland) Angel. 52, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She passed away peacefully with her husband and daughter by her side on January 25, 2024.

She was born on September 18, 1971 at Eglin Air Force Base to Woodrow and Sandra Gilliland. She is survived her husband Eugene Angel (Fort Walton Beach) daughter Hannah Angel (Fort Walton Beach,FL), son Durrell Angel (Panama City,FL) son Tyrece Angel (Reykjavik, Iceland). Grandchildren Jasyis, DeMir, Kassidy( Atlanta,Ga) and Kamari (Dothan,AL), Brother Sean Gilliland (Ocala, FL), Mother-in-law Rebecca Angel (Wedowee,AL), Brother-in-law Tyson Angel(Wedowee,AL,) and a host uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Heather met her husband Eugene in 1998 and they have been inseparable ever since. Soon afterwards she would become a military spouse and a mother of a beautiful baby girl named Hannah. While traveling the globe with her family, she touched so many peoples lives that she is literally being mourned by folks around the world at this very moment. For example…while being on assignment in Japan a huge tsunami hit the coast of Fukushima on March 11, 2011 and destroyed that community. Alot of lives were lost that day and many of the survivors lost everything they owned. She volunteered to help feed the homeless and distribute clothes and other lifesaving supplies. She always made an effort to help anyone that needed a helping hand. And that’s the Heather we all know and love.

Being a mom motivated Heather more than anything. After moving back to Florida she began a new career as a State certified CAM (Condo Association Manager). She was in charge of numerous multi-million dollar properties and handled those tasks flawlessly. She conveyed the importance of education to her daughter and how vital it was to stay focused. But on the other hand, she also insisted on taking time to decompress and relax just to keep your life balanced. Which explains her love for the ocean and spending her down time at the beach. She loved art and music in which she was very talented in both of those genre’s. Painting and creating art along with her care for animals was her first love. While working with a veterinarian as a teenager she cared for and nursed back to health four baby squirrels that were abandoned by their mother. Even at a young age she protected and loved those that could not take care of themselves. That’s just one more reason why everyone loved you so much.

As we remember Heather, let us celebrate the beautiful, talented, and loving soul that she was. Be sad, shed a few tears mourn her in your own way. She would want all of us to keep on living our lives and to love each other regardless of our differences. We will miss you and you will forever be in our hearts. Until we meet again my love.
