Obituary of Estelle Ruth Ray

Estelle "Cookie" Ray, 80, of Cantonment, FL went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 11, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
 

Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by her parents, John Hibbard and Ruth Peterson; her husband of 43 years, Jerry L. Ray; Her brother Phillip Hibbard; and 2 Nephews.


She is survived by her 4 children, Nancy Weirup, (Michael Weirup); Richard Queen, (Rhonda Queen); Joseph Queen, (Angela Urban); and Melonie Welborn, (Richard Garlock). 11 amazing grandchildren, 8 amazing great-grandchildren with number 9 on the way. As well as, her brother Roy Hibbard, (Mary), cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Ray also had many dear friends and church family that she adored as well.

Estelle “Cookie” Ray was born on October 03, 1943, in Boston, MA, and moved to Pensacola, FL in 1971.   Where “Cookie" and Jerry established their family and home when they married on November 2, 1974. She adored her husband and her children. As well, her grand and great-grandchildren, that were the light of her life and were always in her thoughts and prayers. She has had wonderful friends, neighbors, as well as church family who she thought so highly of. Over the years Cookie and Jerry have had many fur babies, that brought them companionship and always made them smile.

Mrs. "Cookie" Ray worked in the medical field for most of her Career achieving many certificates with the pleasure of working for many outstanding doctors who admired her. She had a love for mission outreach through her church and would travel to foreign countries where she volunteered her skills and experience to help others in need. She also had a passion for crocheting which led to her involvement with the "Prayer Shawl Ministry" where she and dear friends and church family made Shawls that were prayed over and delivered to anyone that may have needed comfort in trying times. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and grandmother and friend to many, and she will be missed dearly.

There will be a celebration of her life on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Wilde Lake Church, 2800 Wilde Lake Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32526.  Visitation with the family will be from 2:30 to 3:00 PM with a service at 3:00. Immediately following the service, there will be refreshment provided by the church, in the fellowship hall.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone for their outpouring of support and prayers during this difficult time.
