Obituary of Norah Mary Rupert

Norah Mary Rupert “Nanny”, 88, of Milton, Florida, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

A private family memorial service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida.  She will be buried next to her beloved Husband, Robert P. Rupert who preceded her in death.

Norah was born in Liverpool, England to Irish parents and later raised in Wales, England during WWII.  As a member of British Royal Airforce, it was during her service at the Royal Air Force Station (RAF) Molesworth, Molesworth, Cambridgeshire, England that she met the love of her life, Robert P. Rupert. She married Bob at the age of 19, and traveled from England, embarking on her new life in a new country.  She started this new journey by welcoming her first-born child, Theresa Jeanne Rupert (Stevens), followed by Roberta Pauline Rupert (Hall), Paul Jeffrey Rupert, and lastly Eileen Suzanne Rupert (Smith).

Norah had a strong faith in the Lord and raised her family with all the loving nature of a God-fearing, most loving and caring Mother a family could ask for.  As she moved with Bob to the many places in life that took them, she was always steadfast in her love for her family, and her love for the Lord.

After moving to Milton, Florida, Norah began her career at King Middle School in 1980 as the bookkeeper, continuing her 19-year career until her retirement in 1999.  Norah had many accolades for her stellar work, including the yearly audits which she so efficiently completed.  She was admired and loved by all those she worked with, including her best friend, Amy Symonds.  Norah was an amazing quilter and we are all so fortunate to have the many quilts she made. Norah recalled after the death of her beloved husband, how she was so thankful for the many journeys they had together.

She is survived by her children Terri Stevens (Bob), Brooks, Ga, Bobbi Hall (Gladston), Bay St. Louis, MS, Paul Rupert (Shelley), Milton, FL, and Eileen Smith, Pensacola, FL.  Norah was a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.  We love you Momma, “Nanny”, and we know you are loving life with Daddy and the good Lord.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Alzheimer’s Association in her name at https://www.alz.org/flgulfcoast?form=FUNDQYBYKYS
