Obituary of Richard Donald Costello

Lt. Col. Richard D J Costello USAF, age 99, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born April 22, 1924 to the late Aloysius F Costello and Annette Hodek Costello. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Kenneth W Costello USMC.

Our country lost a real hero of multiple wars that meant a great deal and had a huge impact on our current freedom. Richard served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam as an active duty pilot that flew missions in each of these campaigns. Richard retired out of Barksdale Air Force Base on December 1969.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jean Mohler Costello of 66 years. He had five children, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren living upon his passing.
