Obituary of Marie Elizabeth Lemmis

  Beloved mother and grandmother Marie E. Lemmis, 84, recently of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on April 14, 2024 after a short illness. She was born on March 4, 1940 in Ossining, New York to Vincent James Clementi and Mary Orsini Clementi. 

  She grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut and  graduated from the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, and did her graduate work at Catholic University in Washington DC. She married the late Albert Joseph Lemmis in 1964, they were married 55 years before his passing in 2019. They lived in Providence RI, N Stonington CT, Watertown CT, Simsbury CT, Coral Springs FL, and Glendale AZ before retiring to Punta Gorda FL for 20 years. She moved to Pensacola FL in 2021. 

  Marie loved being a nurse, and worked everything from neonatal ICU to nursing homes. After retirement, Al and Marie travelled the world, from China to Russia to Europe and S America. She was always reading and loved to work on puzzles, especially with the new friends she made after moving to Pensacola. She will be deeply missed.

  She is survived by her children,  Lisa (Erick) Mead of Pensacola, FL, James (Kristine) Lemmis of Weston, CT and Albert (Tammy) Lemmis of Burlington, KY and 9 grandchildren: James (Pamella) Mead, Mary (Steve) Spalding, Genevieve Mead, Margaret Mead, James Lemmis, Elizabeth Lemmis, Tiffany Lemmis, Joseph Lemmis and Jessica Sofield, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Arthur Clementi and Vincent Clementi. 

  The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2pm at the Basilica of St Michael the Archangel in Pensacola, FL and she will be interred later this year at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (T2T.org)
