Obituary of Ricky Donell Webster

Ricky (Rick) Donell Webster, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida passed away on May 26, 2024 at the age of 62.

 

Rick was born in Canton, Mississippi on March 7th, 1962 to Robert Dykes and Doris Webster. Rick graduated from Canton Public High school in 1980, and immediately joined the Air Force and served his country for 15 years. During that time he was also able to attend college. He was most proud of his military service to his country. He loved his job and working on airplanes. He always bragged about being the best at it! Throughout Rick’s career in the Air Force, he earned several awards and medals including the Achievement Medal, the Outstanding Unit Award with one Oak leaf cluster (OLC), Good Conduct Medal with two OLC, the National Defense Service Medal, the Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, the Overseas Long Tour Ribbon and the Longevity Service Award Ribbon, to name some.

Rick worked for several companies including DynCorp International, Defense Support Services, Pacific Architects and Engineers, and Lockheed Martin as an aircraft mechanic overseas and in the USA, culminating with retirement at Eglin Air Force Base. 

Rick played an essential role in unionizing IAMAW Local Lodge 20 in which he was a faithful member for the past 21 years. He was also a member of the local chapter of NAACP located in Fort Walton Beach. 

Rick loved spending time with his dog Chase,fishing, boating, deer hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He especially liked to have long conversations on the phone with them.

Ricky Webster is survived by his son, Ricardo Webster; sisters, Abrenda Kelly, Charice Nicholas Robbins, Marilyn Dykes; brothers, Jackie Webster, Stevie Webster (Bernadette Webster) Larry Dykes (Felicia Heygood); aunt, Catherine Kelly; uncle, Leon Kelly; many nephews and nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Dykes; mother Doris Webster; sisters, Malinda Webster, Janice Dykes; brothers, Jerry Dykes and Lee Daniel Dykes.
