Obituary of Ron Allen Powers

Ron Allen Powers, age 68, of Valparaiso, Florida passed away peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on June 6, 2024.

Ron was born in Limestone, Maine on 14 March 1956 to Arlene and Lester Powers Jr. He was the oldest of their seven children. Ron grew up as a, “Air Force Brat” and traveled the world with his parents. His father ended up retiring in Valparaiso, which became his home for the remainder of his life. Ron gained a strong love & commitment for his community and it's veterans. He started his own business, Color Works Painting with his brother & best friend Victor Jones until he retired due to health issues. He attended AMVETS Post 78 with his father and joined their dart & pool leagues. Ron then chose to join the Sons of AMVETS Squadron 78 where he shared his love of cooking & feeding his community. Ron not only cooked for the AMVETS but also for the Twin Cities Veterans Council at their annual Memorial Day & Veterans Day luncheons for over 20 years. While cooking at AMVETS Post 78 or home he loved calling the Valparaiso Police Department to come get meals for the crew on duty, if they couldn't he would make sure meals were delivered to them along with veterans in the community & also elderly neighbors.  He so enjoyed their smiles of appreciation.

Ron was a loving and stern father to his 3 girls and a proud, loving & doting Paw Paw to his four grandchildren. Ron was a man of many passions, besides cooking he loved the outdoors and was a avid fisherman finding peace, solitude and joy in natures embrace. He also enjoyed collecting items of age with his girls.
