Obituary of David Mallory Thompson
David Mallory Thompson was born on February 3, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio. His parents, Catherine Zebley and Garold John Thompson moved to Clarksburg, West Virginia where he resided until enlisting in the army after graduating from Washington Irving High School.
After basic training in Georgia, Dave was sent to Army Signal Corp training at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Upon completion, he was deployed to Korea in 1952. His first job after being discharged was with AT&T. His interest in cars, planes and boats led him into the automobile industry. After leaving Saab Auto as National Leasing Manager, he purchased a marina in Brick, NJ where he raised six children. In 1984, Dave started designing plastic hardware for the marine industry. He held over 20 patents for his designs. The company sold in 2009 and retirement followed, first in Elberta, AL and later in Pensacola, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Klimas Thompson, his six children, David M. Thompson, Jr. , Lakewood, NJ, Helen Patricia Thompson, Toms River, NJ, Holly Ann Miller, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Scott Thompson (Regina), Foley, AL, Dawn Thompson, Shrewsbury, NJ and Garold Thompson (Barbara), Brick, NJ., and his two stepchildren, Lara Eden Casper (Matthew), Howell, NJ and Edward Schilter,Baltimore, MD. He had 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
