Obituary of Raymond Anthony Harrington

Raymond Anthony Harrington was born on August 25, 1963 to Vera Harrington in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He was the oldest of five siblings. At an early age, Raymond was baptized and joined Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend John Craft. Raymond was educated in St. Tammany Parish public school system. He was a graduate of Salem High School. He was employed in many jobs and was a well-known mechanic. He was also employed with Toyota of Fort Walton, Bill Garrett, Ford Motor, and Mazda of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Raymond enjoyed watching movies, working on cars, and collecting old cars.

Raymond was preceded in death by two siblings: a sister, Betsy Johnson Thompson, and a brother, Willie Lee Jr., his grandmother, Rosanna Harrington; an aunt, Grace Harrington, and three uncles, Willie, Marshall, and Arthur Harrington. He leaves behind to cherish a loving wife, Mary Ann Harrington, his mother Vera Harrington Lee, two brothers: Julius Johnson (LeAnn) and Barry Johnson; Antonio McDonald, Charmaine McDonald, Shermeika McDonald, grandchildren Nesha, Deshon, Chyna, Carmen, and adopted granddaughter Teresa Bagent, uncles Oscar Harrington of Alabama and Ellie Harrington of Slidell, Louisiana, and a host of other nieces and nephews, and special friends Tilton “Teddy” Nixon Jr. and Ulysses “Batman” Batiste. Raymond will be truly missed by family, friends, and coworkers.

A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ, 232 Hollywood Blvd SE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Active Pallbearers will be Gary Newton, Charmaine McDonald, Antonio McDonald, Tilton Nixon, Jr., and Ulysses Batiste. Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Johnson, Julius Johnson, Brandon Mitchell, Barry Johnson, Jr., and Ellic Harrington.

The family wishes to thank the Fort Walton Beach Church of Christ, the staff of the HCA Florida Fort Walton Hospital, and the staff of the Fort Walton Rehabilitation Center.
