Randy Alan Peters of Pensacola, Florida , AGE 61,  passed away surrounded by his family on July 14, 2024  in Pensacola. Randy joins his father Philip "Pete" Peters in Heaven.

Randy was a loving father and grandfather to daughters Memorie Shae Peters of Gulf Breeze, Fl., Phaedra Nole Peters of  Atmore, Alabama and three grandchildren, Riley, Mateo and Kathryne.

Surviving Family Members:  Daughters Memorie Shae Peters, Gulf Breeze, Florida and Phaedra Nole Peters, Atmore, Alabama.  Three grandchildren: Katherine, Mateo and Riley,  Mother: Judith Hicks Peters, Pensacola, Florida,  Brother: Philip Gale Peters, Jr. of Columbia, Mo., Sisters Patricia Peters Williams, Pensacola, Fl and Jennifer Linn Peters Percell, Pensacola, Fl.   Randy's father, Philip “Pete” Peters passed away in 2015.

Randy attended Pace High School where he played football for the Pace Patriots, then went on to serve his Country in the United States Coast Guard. He loved Pensacola Beach and spent many hours during his younger days  surfing, riding the waves and was often featured on the cover of the Pensacola News Journal, riding the waves when hurricanes were approaching, showing no fear. His favorite surfboard was hand crafted by the world famous and legendary surfer Robert August! Randy spent many times surfing with his friends Yancy Spencer, Freddy Esposito, Carey Morris and many others.

Randy loved surfing more than beans and cornbread and loved his music turned up full volume!  He loved skateboarding and even made his own skateboards out of old water skis.

Randy once spent an afternoon sitting on the beach with movie star Farrah Fawcett, enjoying conversation while watching the waves roll in.  Randy made friends easily and in his younger days was friends with female rock star Joan Jett and several other well known personalities.  He never knew a stranger.  Randy loved to cook and was kitchen manager at Schooners Seafood Restaurant on Panama City Beach, Florida and also kitchen manager at Chet's Seafood in Pace, Florida. He inherited his dad's custom built smoker and loved cooking ribs, etc.  Randy spent many hours, days and nights in Pensacola Bay "Shrimping" with his dad Pete Peters and brother Philip Peters on the shrimp boat "Josephine Caroline," owned by Captain Buster Patane.  Of course Randy loved to talk and and share his life stories and wild adventures.  He loved to laugh and make other people smile and was very tender hearted and helpful towards those less fortunate.   He had a "heart of gold."

Randy had countless friends and since his passing they have praised his big heart, kindness and generosity towards others.  He will always be loved and missed by his family and friends.

Randy spent lots of time with his daughter Memorie Shae when she was younger, teaching her to surf, skate, and fish so they could then always do it together, which they did.

Many thanks to Randy's sister Patricia Peters Williams who was more or less his Care Giver, always there for him, assisting him with paperwork, taking him to Doctor appointments, grocery shopping, anywhere that he needed to go, helping him with housing arrangements, hospital ER trips, washing his clothes, you name it, she did it!   She would go by after work almost every day to check on him and see what he needed.  She was basically his Angel.  Thank you Patricia.

As Randy's mom, I spoke with him often about his faith and the last time he told me that he "prayed every night."

A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at NAS Pensacola Barrancas National Cemetery, date to be determined and announced with all details when available.  All friends and family are encouraged to attend.
