Obituary of James Mark Farmer
James Mark Farmer LOVED the Lord! He was taken from this Earth long before any of us would have wanted, but we can take comfort knowing he is with his Lord and Savior and we can only rejoice for him. Mark was born in New Albany, Indiana to Mr. Robert Lee Farmer and Jane Elizabeth Farmer on November 24, 1952. He lost his father only two short years later, but he was blessed with a brother and best friend, Michael Neal Farmer (Mary Farmer, deceased) of Spring, Texas. The new widow and mother bundled her boys up and moved to sunny Pensacola, Florida to be near family, specifically, his maternal grandparents, Mr. Loren Bernard Gardner and Mrs.Celeste Mona Gardner who proceeded him in death. His loving paternal grandparents, Mr. Fletcher Farmer and Mrs. Reba Farmer who also proceeded him in death, remained a strong influence in his life. Jane married Mr. Kenneth Wayne Mosteller, who preceded him in death, and gave Mark the opportunity to continue his role of big brother, which he embraced. Tina Hope O'Connor (Tim), of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Kelly Wayne Mosteller (Victoria) of Mobile, Alabama, were blessed to call him brother.
Everyone dies, but not everyone lives. Mark lived! He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, worked as an Italian chef, at a Lousiana shipyard as a pipefitter, was an auto mechanic, and an HVAC technician. Mark found the love of his life, Janice Farmer, only thirty one years ago and happily married her. They lived a life of service, caring for members of the community including mothers and children, retired priests and those who had little or no family in their times of need. Mark and Jan's most profound impact and fulfilling roles were to be so much more important. Mark was a voice for the unborn, passionately saving many babies and supporting mothers in crisis. While he took great joy in the Miami Dolphins and Crimson Tide victories, nothing surpassed the fulfillment he derived from his pro-life work. Mark leaves behind his loving wife, Janice Farmer, his mother, Jane Mosteller, sister, Tina O'Connor, and brothers Mike Farmer and Kelly Mosteller. Mark also leaves behind three children Paul, Tim, and Jean DeVries, as well as many grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mark was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Farmer (Spring, Texas), many dear cousins, friends. and brothers from the Knights of Columbus, of which he was a 3rd and 4th degree dedicated member for many years.
