Obituary of Thomas Stuart Roache
Thomas Stuart Roache, born on May 17, 1943, in Coalwood, West Virginia, and raised in Evansville, Indiana, passed away on November 5, 2024. He was the son of Paul Watson Roache and Mary Virginia Roache.
Thom is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his sons, Brett (Kathryn) and TJ (Kacey); his step-daughter, Tiffany Hammill; his 8 grandchildren, Stuart, Phoebe, Hayden, Lucy, Lucas, Lola, Beth, and Tad; his siblings, Timothy (Diana) Roache and Patricia (Mark) Steinmetz; and his 4 nieces and nephews, Emily, Michael, Lesley, and Nickolas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Travis.
Thom joined the Navy in 1962 and served until 1966. After his discharge, he embarked on a 30-year career in logistics and transportation management, living in more than 20 cities throughout his career.
Thom loved to have a good time. His best days were spent on a sailboat, with Jimmy Buffett on the radio and a Budweiser in his hand. He also had a passion for cooking and good wine. Whether sailing or cooking, Thom cherished spending time with friends and family.
Thom and Ellen retired to Pensacola, FL, where he volunteered at the Navy Museum during his early retirement years.
A small memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, which is located at 850 N Blue Angel Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, the Roache family requests that donations be made in Thom’s memory to the Northwest Florida Area Agency on Aging at 5090 Commerce Park Circle, Pensacola, Florida 32505.
