David Bennett

Obituary of David Bruce Bennett

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Bruce Bennett, who left this world unexpectedly on November 14, 2024, at the age of 50.  Born on October 22, 1974 in Incirlik Air Force Base, Adana, Turkey.  David was the cherished son of Bruce K. Bennett and Chong Cha (Kim) Bennett.

He lived a life filled with laughter, love, and a passion for the outdoors, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.

David grew up in a loving home, steeped in the values of hard work and compassion instilled by his parents.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce K. Bennett, along with family members, Paul Bennett, Virginia Purcell, George Purcell, and Marion Bloom.  Their memories will forever remain a part of his life story, guiding him even in his final days.

David graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1992, where his infectious personality and sense of humor made him a beloved figure among his peers.  He continued his education at Okaloosa Walton County Junior College, graduating in 1995.  His commitment to learning and growth was evident throughout his life.

An avid fisherman, David found joy in escaping to the serene waters, casting his line and enjoying nature's beauty.  His love for the outdoors was complemented by his passion for baseball, a sport that not only brought him joy but also provided a connection to his community.  His ability to  make people laugh and his vibrant spirit drew others to him, creating bonds that transcended time.

David is survived by his beloved family: mother, Chong (Kim) Bennett; brother, Jerry K. Bennett and his wife, Kathy Bennett; sister, Terri J. Fulmer and her husband, Bill Fulmer; nieces and nephews, who will carry on his legacy, Heather Fulmer, Samantha Ferguson and her husband Blake Ferguson, Douglas Bennett, Kevin Bennett, and William Bruce Fulmer; great-niece, Vivian Ferguson; great-nephew, Tatum Bennett, who will always remember their Uncle David with fondness; and Shadow his dog.

David's unexpected passing due to a sudden illness has left a void that cannot be filled.  He departed this life in Shalimar, Florida, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him most.  His laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be missed dearly.

As we remember David Bruce Bennett, we celebrate a man who loved deeply, laughed often, and lived life to the fullest.  His legacy is one of joy, connection, and the enduring power of family.  May we honor his memory by cherishing each moment spent with loved ones and by sharing laughter in his name.  Rest in peace, dear David; you will forever remain in our hearts.
