Obituary of Sandy Brasher Morton
Sandy Brasher Morton, age 55, of Niceville, FL passed away on December 11, 2024.
Sandy was born in Albany, Georgia, on May 8, 1969 to William “Bill” and Louise Brasher. Her father proudly served in the US Navy and the family moved to Valparaiso, FL when she was 5 years old after her father retired and started his civil service at Eglin Air Force Base.
During her younger years, she was in Girl Scouts, enjoyed hanging out with her friends and classmates, going to concerts of all her favorite artists, and spending time with her Mama, Daddy and best friends Tamara McCraney Thorne and Andrea Parr Hill who she loved dearly.
Shortly after this, she met Guy Morton Jr through mutual friends, and they were married on July 15, 1989. She and Guy had their first child in May of 1990, and this started the journey of motherhood that would be her true joy in life. They would bring three more beautiful children into the world shortly thereafter.
While she raised and loved on her babies, she worked in a variety of retail settings and was determined to continue her education. She completed her high school education and began working at Okaloosa Walton College in the graphics design department. While working, raising her family and serving as Team Mom for all three of her daughters’ softball teams over the years, she completed her Associate of Applied Science degree from OWC.
After working at OWC, she went on to work at Publix Supermarkets in Destin, FL alongside her children. She loved her job at Publix, because it meant more time spent with her children and she loved meeting new people each day and socializing with her coworkers. Our mother loved people and loved talking with them, hearing their stories and sharing ones of her own. She forged so many friendships during her time there and enjoyed giving back to others by participating in community service days through Publix.
She loved being a Mom. She had far too many honorary children to count. She was always there for support, a shoulder to cry on, ready to be silly and to laugh with you or ready to be a Mama Bear at someone if you needed her to. She gave the best hugs and was so full of love. She loved Christmas and watching Hallmark movies. She loved her animals and her grand-dogs and grand-bunnies. She loved going new places and riding around singing to music.
But she’d tell you the greatest part of her life was when she became a “Granny”. When her granddaughter was born, a whole new side of our mom was too. She lived for her granddaughter and wanted to spend every waking moment with her just enjoying making new memories and seeing the world through her Essie’s eyes.
Our Mom was an incredible person, she brought joy and love to so many people and it is extremely difficult to put into words how wonderful she was. Words could never do it justice.
Sandy is survived by her daughters, Kristen Weech, Katie Morton, Kelsey Dice; son, Chris Morton; granddaughter, Esmay Dice; and brother, Robbie. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise; brother, Rick; and her husband Guy.
A celebration of life is planned for after the New Year and details are to be determined.
