Obituary of Bonnie Lee Brown
Bonnie Lee Brown, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on December 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
Born on October 7, 1944, in Anderson, IN, Bonnie was the cherished daughter of Kenneth S. and Dorothy Sulkey. She graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, IN, in 1962 and married the love of her life, Michael F. Brown, in 1964. Together, they were blessed with three children: twins, John and Jill, and Nancy, whom Bonnie supported with endless love and devotion throughout their lives.
Bonnie’s laughter and warmth lit up every room she entered. She was a woman whose kindness knew no bounds, always putting others before herself. She cherished every moment with her family, and her role as a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy.
Bonnie had a special talent for creating playful and endearing nicknames for loved ones. Just to name a few, she lovingly called her son John “Johnny Bubba,” her daughter Jill “Toots,” and her daughter Nancy “Pudding.” Her brother Steve was fondly known as “Pie”, and she was affectionately called “Nana,” “Bon-Bon”, and even “Meh” in return. These endless nicknames, whether for people or things, were a testament to her joyful spirit and brought much laughter and warmth to everyone around her.
Bonnie’s love for life extended beyond her family. She had a passion for dancing, and no occasion was complete without her twirling to the music. She also loved to travel, always seeking new adventures and experiences while creating memories with her loving husband. A fan of games, Bonnie was an avid Scrabble player, often challenging her family to friendly (but competitive) matches.
Her fondness for chocolate was well-known, and she could always be counted on to share a sweet treat with those around her. A lifelong lover of animals, Bonnie had a deep affection for all creatures, especially her cherished furry companions. Over the years, she loved and spoiled several dogs, and she is now reunited in heaven with her beloved pets Sheba, Brandy, Murphy, Putter, and Bogey, who brought her so much joy.
Bonnie enjoyed a successful career as an Account Executive for Charter Media Cable Advertising in Anniston, AL, where her warm heart and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.
Bonnie is survived by her loving children, John (Shelly) Brown of St. Augustine, FL, Jill (Shang) Howell of Foley, AL, and Nancy (Josh) Hudspeth of Alabaster, AL; her beloved grandchildren, Jordyn Brown, Katie Howell, Logan Hudspeth, Cameron Brown, and Kenlee Hudspeth; and her dear brother, Kenneth S. (Peggy) Sulkey, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Brown; her parents, Kenneth S. (Barbara) Sulkey and Dorothy (Earl) Ashburn; her in-laws, Floyd and Lola Brown; and her brother-in-law, Patrick Brown.
Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love, joy, and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A special thank you to the staff of Homestead Village in Pensacola, FL, particularly the caregivers in Cottage K, for their compassion and care.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held after the holiday season. Details will be shared with loved ones later.
Rest in peace, Bonnie. You are loved beyond words and missed more than you could ever know.
