Stephanie Powell

Obituary of Stephanie Maretta Powell

Stephanie Green-Powell, 50, of River Ridge, Louisiana, gained her wings and went to praise dance with the Lord on December 20, 2024.

Stephanie was born on January 5, 1974, to loving parents Johnny James Green and Ernestine Smith in Morgan City Mississippi. Our beloved Stephanie shined in so many professional areas during her life. For twenty years, Stephanie perfected her craft as a hair stylist. She mentored a multitude of young stylists, created beautiful art on every head of hair placed into her hands, as well as owning and operating multiple salons which ultimately paved the way to establishing her own brand Graceful Beauty. But Stephanie didn’t stop there with her everlasting impression. Stephanie was the true interpretation of a ‘go getter’, once she put her mind and heart to something, there wasn’t anything she couldn’t accomplish. In 2020, the pandemic set her mind in motion, leading her to discover that she had a hidden talent in candle making. By 2021, she officially had a successful candle business under her brand Graceful Beauty. From highly invigorating minimalistic candles to delectable maximalist desserts, her handcrafted-with-love wax works excelled and were always in high demand that she could hardly keep up with. By 2023, she also began producing custom T-shirts under Graceful Beauty.

Though Stephanie prevailed professionally and had more than enough to keep her busy for multiple lifetimes, her true calling and heart belonged to Ministering. Stephanie answeredher calling and gave her life to God as a young child. From the elderly to the youth, Stephanie touched so many hearts and souls with her love for the lord as a faithful House of Judah ministry member. She loved to praise and dance for God, and formed her own company Mighty Kingdom Dance Ministry, which included the styles of Praise, Mime and Hip-Hop. Mighty Kingdom Dance Ministry gave hundreds of youths a safe space and hobby to also dance for and love the Lord, including her own three wonderful children. Later in life, Stephanie become an ordained minister, and Co-led a church in New Orleans, Louisiana. She spread love, dance and guidance with a blinding passion for Jesus across the southern Gulf Coast. Every heart the Lord helped her touch will forever be inspired to continue spreading her dedication to “see themselves through God’s eyes”.

Stephanie was predeceased by her father, Johnny James Green of Itta Bena, Mississippi, as well as her brother, Johnny James Green JR of Itta Bena, Mississippi. She is survived by son Xavier Green and wife Melissa Green of Florida; Daughter Amber Green of California; Son Jonathon Powell of Florida;Mother Ernestine Smith of Alabama; Sister Jamila Smith of Georgia; Grandfather Roosevelt Davenport of Morgan City, Mississippi; Grandmother Notoma Davenport of Morgan City,Mississippi; As well as a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Stephanie accomplished much in her life, her greatest accomplishments were her three children, whom she loved more than can ever be put into words; Not even death will affect herforever love and presence in their lives. Stephanie’s beauty, humility, kindness, devotion and selfless love will be forever mourned, but never forgotten. Her spirt has made an undeniable and permanent impression on the lives of all who have known and loved her. To have known and be loved by Stephanie was one of life’s greatest blessings. Though she may no longer walk among us, she has become the grandest of guardian angels who will protect and guide until reunification.
