Obituary of Ramsey Drake Van Buren

Ramsey Van Buren, age 24, of Fort Walton Beach, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2024.

Ramsey was born in Pensacola, Florida on April 11, 2000, to Maggie Petty Risinger and Ronald Van Buren. Ramsey was the beloved baby boy of his family. He grew up as an energetic and carefree son who played soccer and loved making his siblings laugh.

Ramsey was active in Jr. ROTC and the Style Marchers during his years at Choctawhatchee High School. He was a member of the Color Guard and the Rifle Corps. Ramsey participated enthusiastically in many service projects and received several commendations. He lovingly played TAPS for the veterans for the VFW Post in Fort Walton Beach. In addition, Ramsey was a spirited “Haunt Kid” volunteer for the Haunted Woods and made as many friends as “scares.”

One of Ramsey’s favorite passions included music. He was a talented musician who played trumpet, trombone, clarinet, flute and keyboards. He expressed himself artistically through interpretive dance and shared this talent with friends and family through his TIKTOK videos.

Ramsey enjoyed travel and was a nature enthusiast. He loved the beach, marine life, and cared about our local waterways. Ramsey was a fish in water and loved to entertain his family with awesome back flips off the high dive at Vortex Springs.

Ramsey was a wonderful son, brother, nephew, cousin and uncle. Ramsey treasured his many friends as they treasured him. His sweet, kind and empathetic nature was a blessing to all that knew him. Ramsey had the most beautiful smile and a heartfelt desire to make others happy.

Ramsey is survived by his beloved Mother, Maggie Petty Risinger, of Fort Walton Beach. He leaves behind his siblings: Autumn Querini, Jonathan Scott, Danelle Savikas, and nephew, David. Ramsey’s father, Ronald Van Buren, stepmother Michelle and siblings, Kenneth and Kristen, along with his grandmother, Linda Frantz. Ramsey also leaves behind an extended family and many friends who love and miss him dearly.

Ramsey is preceded in death by his Beloved Big Sister, Amber Johnson, his Papa Jim and Grandma Rachael.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Family-Funeral & Cremation; 101 Mary Esther Blvd., Mary Esther, FL 32569. Additionally, A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post; 213 Carol Avenue, NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
