Obituary of khen sao
Khen Sao, 82 of Niceville, FL, passed away peacefully, in the early morning on January 23, 2023.
Khen Sao was born in a rural village in northeastern Thailand, Preah Vihear, Province on February 3, 1940. She married Youen Kang, a Cambodian soldier in 1971 and moved with him to Cambodia for 3 years before the civil war forced them to return to Thailand as refugees in 1974. They immigrated to the United States in 1978, sponsored by St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Enterprise, AL. Over the next few years they lived in Louisiana, Washington, North Carolina and Rhode Island before settling in Valparaiso, FL in 1995. They spent over 15 peaceful years in Valparaiso, raising their children and grandchildren. After a move to Texas in 2012, Khen Sao returned to Niceville in 2022 to be near her daughter and son.
Khen Sao is survived by her four children, Sary K. Gaines, Sao Ngan Kang, Chan Vuthy Kang, and David Kang; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her step-daughter, Keathy Kang and three step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Youen Kang.
