Velma Jeanne Duffey (Don't call me Velma) On August 26, 2022 surrounded by family our 4'11" spunky former redhead passed away peacefully. Born December 23, 1930 to Maynard Forwald and Naomi Forwald (Conrad) in Lone Tree, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Lone Tree K-12 school and Iowa State Teacher's College. Jean married Paul L Duffey on December 29, 1951 and together they began a military life journey. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry; sister, Mary Smith and many other loved ones. Jean is survived by her children, Theresa (Paul) Abbott, JR Duffey (JoAnn) and Maureen Wright (Lucas); grandchildren, Jeremy Duffey, Matthew (Lindy) Abbott, Steven (Samantha) Abbott, Megan Eitelbach, Cameron (Courtney) Duffey, Kaitlyn (Avery) Dyer, Alexander and Victoria Morales, Jasmine, Kaitlyn and Jack Wright; great-grans, Emily, Bryson and Parker Abbott, Eden and Ivy Abbott, Ethan, Evelyn and Oliver Eitelbach; daughter-in-law, Shelley Duffey, former son-in-law, Dion Wright; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ann and Glenn Pauley and a host of many nieces and nephews. Jean was a Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Teacher, Seamstress, good cook, and loved to keep a spotless home. Mom was blessed with a very healthy life until May 2022. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Emerald Coast Hospice for their kindness and care they gave to our mom. Any donations may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice in Jean's name. A very special thanks to Father Doug Martin. Jean will be laid to rest by her husband in Lone Tree, Iowa at a future date.
