Obituary of geraldine "jerrie" defoor bunn

Geraldine "Jerrie" DeFoor Bunn, 96, of Fort Walton Beach, FL passed away on Tuesday, August 9,2022. Jerrie was born in Gary, Indiana on October 22, 1925 to George F. DeFoor, Sr. and Eleanor Needham DeFoor. She enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Corp when WWII erupted. After the war, she married Howard Hilton in Chicago, IL, in 1944 and they moved to Mary Esther, FL in 1950. Jerrie was industrious and creative. Her many endeavors included employment at Lucky Strike Lanes, Texas Instruments and Keltec. She was in involved in many cottage industries, including sewing, alterations, cake decorating and catering. She taught herself to crochet, macrame, and loved to make gifts for friends. Her favorite gift of all was making stuffed teddy bears, which she gave to hospitals and senior living homes. At Christmas, her tree was covered with tiny bears and all guests were invited to take one home. She was a wonderful cook. She could make a gourmet meal out of a cup of flour and a glass of water. Her turkey dinners and homemade bread were delicious. She was a patriot and flew the American flag on her porch almost every day. She was a proud member of the American Legion and the VFW. She was a past member of the Playground Players and USO entertainment for the troops. She had a positive attitude, a love for life and her many friends in the Fort Walton Beach area. Jerrie is survived by a brother, George Frederick DeFoor, Jr. (Elaine); sister, Linda Lohr; and four children, Rhonda Hilton Therrien (John A. Tasis), Dennis M. Hilton, Sheryl A. Hilton, and Lisa Hilton LeClair (Leighton); grandchildren, Letitia D. Garofalo (Anthony), Byron M. Hilton, Jessica Hilton, Kevin H. LeClair (Rebecca), and Dustin E. LeClair (Shelley); great-grandchildren, Jeremy B. Dolan, Anthony J. Garofalo III, Felicia L. Garofalo, Landon M. LeClair, Audrey M. LeClair, and Sadie Sato; great-great grandchildren, Jace D. Rowell and Elijah C. Rowell. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Bunn; brother, Toliver DeFoor, and son, Randall W. Hilton. Arrangements entrusted to Family-Funeral & Cremation.
